Grave Blanket Decoration invoices are being emailed. Payment is due via the invoice - no checks/money orders should be mailed to the cemetery office as it is permanently closed and will not be collected.
Starting in July we sent out a mailer instructing you to go online to sign up for our notifications, if you have completed this sign up form you will receive an electronic invoice for the grave decorations.
We will start emailing invoices at the end of October. Payment will need to be made online, we are not mailing invoices or accepting mailed checks/money orders due to our office building being closed permanently due to COVID.
If you did not receive an invoice please check your spam folder. Please email us at arlingtoncemeterynj@gmail.com with the name and date of death for the person you want to purchase a decoration for, and include your full contact information.
*Decorations may vary, image is for a sample only.
What is a Grave Blanket?
A common misconception most people have is thinking that a Grave Blanket is a physical blanket (like you would have on your bed). A grave blanket is a seasonal decoration that is constructed of evergreen branches and bows. It is used to decorate the grave for the winter season, and it is not meant as a religious decoration. If you enter the cemetery after Thanksgiving you can see a sample of the Grave Blanket.
How much does it cost?
For the 2021 season Grave Blankets are $48.00 each. This fee includes the cost of the Grave Blanket, placement on the grave site, and final disposal.
Am I required to purchase a Grave Blanket?
No. Purchasing a Grave Blanket is optional. We just want to extend the service to our lot owners. It serves as a convenient way to decorate the grave since we place the Grave Blanket on the grave. You are permitted to purchase your own Grave Blanket from an outside vendor.
How can I pay?
If you are a lot owner, or a previous purchaser, you will receive an invoice via email.
Please do not mail a payment or drop a payment off at the cemetery office, we do not have any staff on site in the office due to COVID. The office building is permanently closed.
Did you receive my payment?
You will receive a payment confirmation email from the processing company, please check your spam/junk folder if you do not see a receipt.
Can the Grave Blanket be customized?
Our Grave Blankets are hand-made and pre-designed. We do not have the ability to customize them with names, specific colors, or decorations. You may feel free to incorporate your own decorations into the Grave Blanket once it has been placed on your grave.
When will you put the Grave Blanket on the grave?
We start putting grave blankets down around Thanksgiving and continue up until December 23rd, or until we sell out.
If you've recently submitted your payment for the Grave Blanket, and do not see it on your grave we may not have put it on just yet. We receive a weekly delivery (depending on available stock) and put out the Grave Blankets in groups. It may take a week after payment clears, before you will see the Grave Blanket on the grave.
When do you remove the Grave Blankets?
We try to remove the Grave Blankets by the second week of January. This time frame is flexible as it is dependent on weather. If there is snow covering the Grave Blankets we will not be able to remove them until it clears.
Do I need to have a headstone/monument to have a Grave Blanket?
No. A headstone or monument is not required for you to have a Grave Blanket. Each grave is our cemetery is mapped out, so we know the precise location. Many people without a headstone/monument order a Grave Blanket.
I paid for my Grave Blanket, saw it, and now it is missing.
Unfortunately we have come across instances where people disrespectfully steal a Grave Blanket to decorate their own grave. If this happens to you, please email or call us and we will have one of our workers investigate the situation.
